Striking horizontal latticework denotes the new three-story, South of Fifth (SoFi) condo building Louver House in Miami Beach. Nearly on the tip of the barrier island, the corner lot is located on a tree-lined residential street less than 10 minutes by foot from the Miami Beach Marina, South Pointe Park, and the beach.
In addition to its ideal location, the 12-unit building’s gorgeous design by Rene Gonzalez Architect has already prompted the sale of five units—priced from $1.9 million to $3.6 million—since they went on the market in January. Gonzalez worked on The J. Paul Getty Museum in Los Angeles for the architect Richard Meier, and also earned a following of his own for Indian Creek, a 30,000-square-foot home that made headlines in 2012 as Miami’s most expensive sale ever at $47 million. Wooden louvers featured prominently in that design, as they do in Louver House. Glass, an 18-story SoFi tower by Gonzalez, has piqued much interest since breaking ground in 2013.
Residents at Louver House will take private elevators up to their three-bedroom units, which range in size from 2,088 square feet to 2,432 square feet. The open-plan homes center on one main living area encompassing the kitchen, dining room, work space, and lounge. One wall of the room slides completely away to connect with spacious outdoor sitting and dining terraces. Kitchens from the sleek Brazilian brand Ornare are equipped with quartz countertops and appliances by Wolf and Sub-Zero. Each bedroom includes a walk-in closet and an en suite bathroom. Some penthouse units access a private rooftop garden and hot tub. A rooftop infinity-edge pool and lounge areas are shared among the Louver House residents.
